Step 1
Schedule 15 Min Consult
This brief conversation gives us a chance to get to know each other, talk about what’s bringing you to therapy, and make sure we feel like a good fit to work together.
We’ll also discuss scheduling, availability, insurance or payment questions, and what you’re hoping to get out of therapy.
I also like to be upfront about how I approach treatment. I typically meet with clients weekly, especially in the beginning stages of therapy. Over the years, I’ve found that consistent sessions help clients build momentum, stay connected to the work, and reach their goals more effectively. Most people who come to therapy want real change… not to feel stuck in therapy forever. Weekly sessions help us create meaningful progress together.
Step 2
Complete Paperwork
If we decide we’re a good fit to work together, the next step is completing your intake paperwork before scheduling the initial appointment.
You’ll receive an email invitation to access my secure client portal through TherapyNotes. From there, you’ll complete your forms online using your phone, tablet, or computer.
The paperwork includes basic intake information, consent forms, insurance or payment information, and some deeper questions about what brings you to therapy and what you’re hoping support with. Completing this ahead of time helps us spend less time on paperwork during your first session and more time focusing on you.
Step 3
Review Paperwork and Schedule Your First Appointment
Once your paperwork is completed, I’ll review everything carefully, including any insurance benefits or payment information, before reaching out to schedule your first appointment. This step helps us make sure everything is in place so we can begin smoothly and focus on treatment from the start.
For adult clients, the first appointment is typically an individual intake session where we begin getting to know your story, current concerns, and therapy goals together.
For children, I meet with parents or caregivers first before the child’s initial session. This gives me an opportunity to better understand the child’s history, environment, strengths, and current challenges, while also giving caregivers space to share concerns, ask questions, and discuss goals for therapy.
